BIENVENIDO A MI CLASE DE ESPANOL!!  Welcome to the start of a new school year.  I am very excited to teach your children and look forward to a productive year.  The vocabulary is written in their notebooks as well as a download under the 6th and 7th Grade tab - Vocabulary.

Please ask your child to show you something that they have learned every day.  Repetition and practice are great!  We will continue to work on our pronunciation every day.

Here at Langston part of our mission statement talks about personal responsibility and we strive to cultivate this attribute in every class.  I have asked the students to email me if they have any issues, concerns or comments as soon as they have them.  I am asking you, as parents, to help them complete their assignments in a timely manner and if an issue arises to email me before 6 pm. My family and I appreciate your consideration in this matter. It is hard to respond to an issue or question if I do not see it until the next day and this can affect your students grade; completed homework/projects must be turned in ON THE DUE DATE AS STATED.  LATE WORK IS NEVER ACCEPTED UNLESS THERE IS AN ILLNESS OR PREVIOUSLY ARRANGED AGREEMENT.  OOPS passes and homework passes are not valid on Fridays or for Quizzes or Tests. 

They will be receiving a card from me that allows them one opportunity to change a homework grade (ex:  If they receive a C, they can move it up to B).  This is a one time use card and CANNOT BE USED FOR TESTS OR QUIZZES. I will explain the procedure to them.

RESEARCH HAS FOUND THAT PEER TUTORING, ALONG WITH TEACHER  INVOLVEMENT, INCREASES  UNDERSTANDING.  THIS YEAR, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, HELP SESSIONS WILL BE BY STUDENT REQUEST OR TEACHER RECOMMENDATION.  THERE IS A WONDERFUL POOL OF 7th AND 8th GRADERS THAT WILL BE PAIRED WITH YOUR CHILD TO ASSIST YOUR CHILD IN SPECIFIC AREAS HE OR SHE MIGHT BE STRUGGLING IN.  A STUDENT MUST NOTIFY ME NO LATER THAN TUESDAY  SO THAT I CAN NOTIFY A POTENTIAL PEER TUTOR TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE AVAILABLE.  IF A STUDENT CHOOSES TO BE A DISTRACTION OR DOES NOT USE HIS/HER TIME WISELY, I  WILL NOTIFY THE PARENT(S) AT THE FIRST OFFENSE.  IF THE BEHAVIOR CONTINUES, THE CHILD WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE PROGRAM. ​
